Headteacher Welcome

Welcome. My name is Cheryl Allard, and I have the pleasure of introducing myself to you as the headteacher of The Wolsey Park School. I am in the unusual position of being a headteacher without a building or learners right now, but I am working hard with the wider team at Zenith, and with colleagues at the Local Authority, to design and implement plans to ensure we have a fantastic specialist school for South Essex. I have extensive experience leading schools, and can't wait to open the doors of Wolsey Park!

We are striving for excellence with Wolsey Park. As headteacher, I am committed to growing and leading a team that ensures Wolsey Park is a place of joy and learning, where children and their families belong and thrive, with high-quality facilities, and expertly trained staff. Our specialist school will be one where children are known and cherished, and are at the centre of all we do.

The Wolsey Park School is being designed for children and young people who require a highly personalised curriculum. The curriculum will focus on communication and wellbeing, within a highly practical, and engaging, broader curriculum of foundational skills and enriching experiences. We recognise that some of our young people face significant challenges, and we will make sure they have the right support, the right approaches, and the right people around them, so that they can make progress in the ways that matter most.

I am committed to shaping a school where families are listened to as the experts in their children.  I understand the importance of trust and good relationships in every aspect of education and care. As a school, we will need to earn and maintain the trust of parents and carers through strong partnership working and meaningful co-production. As headteacher, I aim to lead a school which facilitates families, education, and health professionals working together for the very best outcomes for our young people - recognising every special moment along the way!

The team here at Zenith Academy Trust are always eager to listen and learn, so please send in your thoughts and ideas via the 'Community Voice' section. We want to hear from any interested parties, and in particular prospective parents, about the areas you think we should be focusing on in creating this school, to get the very best outcomes for our young people and their families. This could include curriculum, staff recruitment, uniform, entry and exit routines, or home-school communication. Any area, big or small, we will read and consider each one.  We look forward to hearing from you.
